Sara Waldron

Position: Counsellor
Company: Hopen

Sara is an Integrative & TA (Transactional Analysis) Psychotherapist with a specialism in working with children and young people, alongside supporting adults. She is a trauma-informed practitioner and EMDR therapist who provides a safe, nurturing space where individuals can explore their experiences and begin to heal. Sara understands that children and young people often communicate through behaviour when words feel difficult. To support them effectively, Sara draws on a wide range of techniques, including trauma informed, creative, play-based, and solution-focused interventions to support emotional understanding, resilience and growth.

Sara is a compassionate and empathic practitioner with years of experience supporting diverse age groups. Sara’s passion for working with Children and Young People is rooted in the power of early intervention and prevention and works collaboratively with parents, carers, families, schools and professionals to provide joined-up support.

Sara believes in nurturing the inner child in all of us and offers a therapeutic space where both adults and young people feel heard, validated, and empowered to move forward at their own pace. This approach helps her tailor therapy in ways that truly resonate and create lasting change. With warmth, empathy, and deep respect for individuality, Sara invites clients into a therapeutic relationship, one rooted in curiosity, and understanding.

Working within an ethical framework Sara’s work has involved close collaboration with schools, parents, caregivers, and multi-agency teams to create wraparound support for families navigating emotional and behavioural challenges. She believes a therapy service is most effective when trust, connection, and collaboration are at its heart. By involving families in the therapeutic process, she gains a deeper insight into the world of the young person and can adapt her approach to meet them exactly where they are.

Sara is committed to ongoing personal and professional growth, maintaining relevant qualifications, engaging in regular clinical supervision, and drawing on her own experiences of therapy to deepen her understanding of emotional well-being. This enables her to show up more fully and authentically for the individuals and families she supports.

Sara enjoys time with family and friends, dog walks, baking, watching films and recently going back to the gym.
